The “Camí d’es Clot” stretches from Petit Deià to Cala Deià, the small picture-postcard cove that bears the name of the village to which it belongs, and passes through Sa Torre de Sa Pedrissa, an old defense tower. No better place than this to take a break, contemplate Sa Foradada in the distance, and rest under the only large shade areas on the path. To end our walk, what else than a well-deserved dip in the blue waters of the cove?
We start our walk in Carrer Es Clot, the same street where Can Boi is located, the refuge that is an obligatory stop for those doing the GR221 Dry-Stone Route through the Tramuntana mountain range. The walk to the idyllic cove of Deià is short but affords the most beautiful views of the village and the brutal rural landscape with the olive trees leaning against the steep cliffs, and so on down to the sea.
In case the walk and the views awaken your appetite, it is good to know that the restaurants in Deià are so good as to leave no one indifferent. Take for example the family-run cafeteria S’Hortet: simply good food served by good people, with the best produce from the Mallorcan garden.
Impossible to beat are the seasonal tasting menus at Es Racó d’es Teix, immensely delicate creations by top chef Josef Sauerschell. His Michelin-starred restaurant is located at the top of the mountain. Two fantastic options to complete a great day in the Tramuntana mountains and in Deià. Both are exponents of the so-called “other Mallorca” that tourists who visit us like so much.
It is a pleasant and easy route that makes for a refreshing and enviable dip in the turquoise waters of the cove in the warmer months. You can return to the village by following the route that links Sóller with Deià, which forms part of the Dry-Stone Route (GR 221), to continue discovering new and unexpected natural surroundings.
